Omadle

Guide

Use Omadle on your phone like an app

Omadle has no app to download: it runs in your phone's browser, so you can open it and start chatting right away. If you'd like it one tap away, add it to your home screen: it then opens from its own icon, like an app.

It works in your phone's browser

Open omadle.com in your browser, pick a name, confirm you're 18 or older and start chatting: no sign-up required. Calls work in Chrome and Firefox on Android, and in any browser on iPhone and iPad. If your browser is out of date, update it and try again.

Adding Omadle on iPhone and iPad

In Safari on an iPhone:

  1. Open Omadle in Safari.
  2. Tap the page menu button or the More button (•••), whichever you see, then tap Share. If there's a Share button in the toolbar, tap it instead.
  3. Scroll down the list of options, then tap Add to Home Screen. If you don't see it, scroll to the bottom of the list, tap Edit Actions, then tap Add to Home Screen.
  4. Turn on Open as Web App if you see it, then tap Add.

On an iPad, tap the Share button in Safari, then Add to Home Screen (if it isn't listed, tap View More or More first), and turn on Open as Web App if you see it. In Chrome on an iPhone or iPad, tap Share on the right of the address bar, then Add to Home Screen, then Add. The icon appears only on the device where you add it.

On iPhone and iPad, Omadle on your home screen keeps its own sign-in, separate from your browser. The first time you open it, you start with a new guest identity, unless you sign in with Google.

Adding Omadle on Android

In Chrome on Android:

  1. Open Omadle in Chrome.
  2. On the right of the address bar, tap More, then Install and create shortcut.
  3. Tap Install, then follow the on-screen instructions.

On Android, Omadle on your home screen shares your sign-in with Chrome. To remove it later, open your phone's Settings, then Apps, then See all apps, tap Omadle and tap Uninstall (the steps vary a little between phones).

What changes when you open it from your home screen

Omadle opens from its own icon and fills the screen without your browser's address bar.

Staying signed in

A guest account lives in your browser only, and clearing your browser storage loses it. Registered members, who sign in with Google, keep their username and history if they switch devices or clear their browser storage. More in how anonymous chat works.

Sounds and notifications

Omadle's sounds play while it's open, whether you opened it from your home screen or your browser. Omadle doesn't send notifications to your phone while it's closed, but your messages and notifications wait for you: the unread count shows in your conversations, and your notifications wait under the bell. More in our notifications and sounds guide.

Calls on a phone

While you're in a call, Omadle tries to keep your screen from turning off by itself. Keep Omadle open with the screen on: if you lock your phone or switch to another app, your browser may pause the call until you come back. On Android, it can help to let Chrome run in the background: in your phone's Settings, open Apps, then Chrome, then Battery, and choose Unrestricted (the steps vary a little between phones). More in our audio calls guide, and if your microphone won't work, see microphone or camera not working.
