Chat with people from your country
Want to chat with people from your own country, or from one you're curious about? On Omadle the lobby already lists people near you first, and a country filter shows everyone online from any country you pick. It's free, works in your browser, and you can join as a guest with no email or password.
People near you come first
The lobby lists everyone currently online, people near you first: your city, then your region, then your country. You don't have to set anything for this. Pick a name on the homepage, start chatting, and the people closest to you are at the top of the list. Tap anyone to open a one-on-one chat right away.
Filtering the lobby by country
- In the lobby, tap Filters above the list of people online.
- Start typing a country in the Country field and pick it from the list.
- The lobby now shows only people online from that country.
You can combine it with the gender and age range filters, and tap Clear filters to see everyone again. Our guide to making friends and filtering the lobby covers the other filters and what to do once you've found someone worth talking to again.
How your country is detected
Your country is detected automatically from your connection, and where available, your region is detected too. It isn't precise location tracking: Omadle doesn't track your precise location or GPS coordinates. Your city is never detected. It's shown only if you pick one yourself.
If the detected country is wrong, or you'd rather not show it, change it when you sign up or later in your profile. You can pick any country, or set it to Other.
What others see of your location
Your country shows up as a flag next to your name, in the lobby and in your conversations. Your region, and your city if you pick one, are shown in the lobby and on your profile too, unless you turn off "Show my region and city". The switch's description tells you exactly what others will see, such as only your country, or your city, region and country.
Changing or hiding your region and city
- Open Edit profile: tap your profile at the top of the lobby.
- Change your Country if you like.
- To change your region or city, keep "Show my region and city" on, type in the Region, state or city field and pick from the list. Changing your country clears your region and city.
- To hide both, turn off "Show my region and city". Others then see only your country.
The same switch and field are there when you sign up, as a guest or with Google, so you can decide before you start chatting. While the switch is off, your region and city aren't used to list people near you first, so the lobby puts people from your country first instead.
Browsing without being seen
Your location is only one of the things others see. If you'd rather look around the lobby without showing as online at all, turn on Appear offline; our presence guide covers what it hides and what it doesn't. Wherever the people you meet are from, the habits in our safety guide still apply: don't share personal information with strangers.
