Guide
Your profile: username, avatar and profile photo
Your profile on Omadle is small on purpose: a username, an avatar and a few details you choose. It's what people see when they find you in the lobby or chat with you. Here's what it shows, how to pick an avatar or profile photo, and what you can change later.
What others see about you
Your username is the only name other people see. Next to it, they see:
- A Guest or Member badge, depending on whether you signed in with Google
- Your avatar: your initials, an emoji or a profile photo
- Your gender, if you choose one
- Your age and your country, with its flag, in the lobby and in your chats
- Your region, and your city if you pick one, unless you turn off "Show my region and city"
Tapping someone's Guest or Member badge opens their info popup. It shows whether they're online, their gender and location, their About me if they wrote one, and when they joined. You can hide when you're online with "Appear offline": see the presence guide.
Your username is permanent
You can't change your username after you create it, so pick one you're happy to keep. If you're chatting as a guest and then sign in with Google, your guest username is filled in for you: you can keep it or pick a new one. If you delete your account, your username is released for someone else to claim. The guide to how anonymous chat works explains guests and members.
Choosing an avatar
Open Edit profile (tap your profile at the top of the lobby) and choose one under Profile icon, then tap Save changes:
- Initials, made from your username
- Emoji, any one emoji you pick
- Google Photos, a profile photo of your own, if you signed in with Google
Your profile photo
If you signed in with Google, choose Google Photos in Edit profile, pick a photo and crop it. Google gives Omadle one-time access to that one photo; nothing else in your library is shared. Only people who have confirmed their age see it; others see your initials. A profile photo must not show nudity or sexual content: using one gets your account permanently suspended.
Your profile photo stays until you replace it or ask us to remove it, or goes back to your initials after 30 days without using Omadle. We may also remove a profile photo to enforce our Terms. Choosing a different avatar keeps it, so you can switch back. Our guide to sharing photos has more.
Your text color
In a one-on-one chat, tap Text color next to the chat input and choose a color. Your messages appear in your chosen color for everyone in the conversation.
What you can change in Edit profile
Everything except your username can be changed at any time:
- Your avatar, under Profile icon
- About me, a few words about yourself
- Your gender, age and country
- Your region and city, and whether others see them
- The switches under Privacy and contact, such as "Appear offline", "Allow call requests" and "Allow group invites"
Members also find Delete account at the end of Edit profile; our guide to deleting your account covers members and guests. Whatever you put on your profile, keep contact details like your phone number out of it; our safety guide explains why.
