Guide
How to delete your Omadle account and data
Omadle collects minimal information to begin with: your chosen username, your age, and optional details like gender, country, region, and city, plus your email address if you sign in with Google. If you want to leave, you can delete your account yourself at any time. Here's how, as a member or a guest, and what happens to your data, as our Privacy Policy describes it.
Deleting a member account
- Open Edit profile: tap your profile at the top of the lobby.
- Scroll to the end and tap Delete account.
- Read the confirmation, which reminds you that your username will be freed and may be claimed by another member, then tap Yes, delete.
- You may also be asked to confirm it's you with Google. Tap Confirm with Google and choose the Google account you signed in to Omadle with.
Your account is permanently deleted and you're signed out immediately.
Deleting a guest account
A guest account has no Delete account button, because it's deleted when you sign out. Tap Sign out at the top of the lobby and you're asked to confirm first: signing out ends the guest account, along with its chats, and frees its username, and you can't sign back in to it. Tap Yes, sign out to finish. A guest account lives in your browser only: clearing your browser storage loses your access to it, and it's then deleted after a period of inactivity.
What's removed and what's kept
When you delete your account:
- Your profile and messages are no longer shown to anyone, and your messages are removed from other users' chats.
- Your username becomes available to others.
- Group invitations you sent or received expire.
- We keep a limited record of the account and its activity, such as its email address, for up to a year for safety, fraud prevention, and legal reasons, and then delete it.
- Call details (who took part, when, and for how long) are kept for as long as needed to operate Omadle and keep it safe.
The record that you've been in a group chat with someone, which lets you contact each other later, is deleted along with your account. Our copy of a shared photo is deleted 24 hours after it was last sent; the reference to the original photo is kept with its message for as long as the message.
Your profile photo
If you delete your account, your profile photo is no longer shown to anyone and is deleted 30 days after you last used Omadle. While you keep your account, your profile photo is kept until you replace it, ask us to remove it, or don't use Omadle for 30 days, when your avatar goes back to your initials. We may also remove a profile photo to enforce our Terms. See the sharing photos guide for more.
Accounts that aren't used
A member account that hasn't been used for 12 months may be deleted, together with its messages. A guest account is deleted automatically after a period of inactivity.
Signing up again
You can register again with the same Google account at any time. Your old username was freed when you deleted your account, so another member may have claimed it by then.
Asking us to delete your data
Guests can also ask for deletion through our contact page: choose Account as the topic. Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access the personal information we hold about you and to request correction or deletion of your data; the contact page is the place to ask, too. For everything else we keep and why, read the Privacy Policy, or see the frequently asked questions.
