Sharing photos on Omadle

Sometimes a picture says it faster. In any one-on-one or group chat you can share a photo from Google Photos, if you signed in with Google, or from Google Drive. JPEG, PNG, WebP and HEIC (the format iPhones use) photos work, one photo per message. In a one-on-one chat, you can send a photo once the other person has messaged you (whether they started the conversation or replied to you), or if you're friends. Until then, the Share a photo button looks faded, and tapping it tells you why. In group chats, anyone can share.

From Google Photos

If you signed in to Omadle with Google, tap the Share a photo button in the chat's message bar: it opens on Google Photos. The first time, tap Allow Google Photos (after that, the button says Choose a photo). Google asks you to let Omadle see the photo you pick: only the photo you choose reaches Omadle, never the rest of your library, and that access ends as soon as your photo is in. Then tap Open Google Photos: it opens in a new window. Pick one photo there and come back to Omadle. Omadle shows you a preview; tap Send to share it.

From Google Drive

Tap the Share a photo button (if it opens on Google Photos, choose Google Drive). Then open the photo in Google Drive, choose Share, and set General access to "Anyone with the link". Copy the link, paste it into Omadle and tap Continue. Omadle fetches the photo and shows you a preview; tap Send to share it.

What the other person sees

A photo you receive arrives blurred, with a View photo button: nothing shows until you choose to look, and the photo itself isn't even loaded until then. Tap the photo again to see it full size. Your own photos show normally.

How long photos last

A shared photo can be viewed for 24 hours after it was last sent. After that the message shows "Photo expired" and Omadle's copy is deleted. The message itself stays in the conversation like any other.

Your privacy

Omadle fetches the photo once and makes a new copy without the hidden details many photos carry, such as where and with which camera it was taken; that copy is what people see. The people you chat with never see your Google account or your Drive link. Making the photo private again in Drive doesn't remove a photo you've already sent, but it stops anyone from sharing it again.

Your profile photo

If you signed in with Google, Edit profile lets you choose a photo from Google Photos and crop it into your avatar. Google gives Omadle one-time access to that one photo. Only people who have confirmed their age see it; everyone else sees your initials. A profile photo must not show nudity or sexual content: using one gets your account permanently suspended (see our Terms of Service). Your profile photo stays until you replace it or ask us to remove it, or goes back to your initials after 30 days without using Omadle. If you delete your account, your profile photo is no longer shown and is deleted 30 days after you last used Omadle. Choosing a different avatar keeps it, so you can switch back.

If a photo crosses a line

Report it from its message: it's hidden for you straight away. Photos that break our rules are removed everywhere and can't be shared again. Blocking someone stops them from sending you anything at all. See how reporting works, and remember the usual safety habits: never share a photo that could identify you, and never feel pressured into sharing anything.
